How to Install and Register
 

  • Install the plugin by copying it in the Plug-ins folder of After Effects.

    Windows:
    Copy AEPixelSorter2.aex to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2020\Support Files\Plug-ins/

    Mac:
    Copy AEPixelSorter2.plugin to:
    /Applications/Adobe After Effects 2020/Plug-ins/

  • Open After Effects. You will find the plugins in the Gabgren 2000 Effects Category.
  • Next to the effect's name, you will find a Register button which will allow you to paster your license code.
    You can find your license code on your account page on aescripts.com

 

 

USER MANUAL

Smooth

Blurs the source image for smoother sort regions.

Smooth: 0

Smooth: 75

Zoom

Zooms in the source image. Can be useful for animating abstract backgrounds.

Zoom: 100%

Zoom: 25%

Resolution

Decreases the resolution of the source image. Can be useful to create a 8-bit or retro look, or to speed up processing for previewing.

Resolution: 100%

Resolution: 10%

Affect

Choose to work in the highlights or shadows.

Trigger

Works in conjunction with the Threshold param. Defines when the sorting will start by analyzing the selected channel.

Trigger: Red

Sort By

Pixels will be sorted by analysing the selected channel.

Sort By: Luma

Sort By: Hue

Angle

Drives the direction of the sorting.

Angle: 90°

Threshold

Works in conjunction with the Trigger param. Defines the channel’s breakpoint where the pixel sort will start.

Threshold: 0
Will sort nothing

Threshold: 0.5
Assuming we are triggered by Luma values, the pixel sorting will stop whenever the luma value of the row exceeds 0.5

Threshold: 1
Will sort every row

Invert Sorting

Instead of re-arranging the pixels from left to right, it will do the same from right to left.

Invert: Off

Invert: On

Block Size

Group rows of sorted pixels for thicker lines.

Block Size: 1

Block Size: 30

Length

Clips the length of each sorted lines according to their maximum length. Useful for animation.

Animated from 100% to 0%

Offset & Random Offset

Offsets the beginning of the sorted line. Useful for animation. 

Offset Random will increase randomness of the Offset value.

Offset: 0%

Offset: 50%

Offset: 50%, Random: 50%

Cycle

Shifts the start position of the sorted line. Useful for looping animations.

Animated Cycle

Feather

Fades the beginning or the end of the sorted line.

Feather: 0%

Feather Start: 40%

Blur

Blurs the sorted line.

Blur: 0%

Blur: 100%

Output

You can output something else out from the algorithm. Helpful for compositing.

Output: Sorted Pixels

Output: Matte

Output: Gradient

Output: Map

Preserve Alpha Channel

Useful when working with masks. Sometimes you want to keep the original alpha.
